The Bill of Rights is the collective name for the first ten amendments to the United States Constitution. These limitations serve to protect the natural rights of liberty and property. They guarantee a number of personal freedoms, limit the government's power in judicial and other proceedings, and reserve some powers to the states and the public. While originally the amendments applied only to the federal government, most of their provisions have since been held to apply to the states by way of the Fourteenth Amendment.
The amendments were introduced by James Madison to the 1st United States Congress as a series of legislative articles. They were adopted by the House of Representatives on August 21, 1789,[1][2] formally proposed by joint resolution of Congress on September 25, 1789, and came into effect as Constitutional Amendments on December 15, 1791, through the process of ratification by three-fourths of the States. While twelve amendments were proposed by Congress, only ten were originally ratified by the states. Of the remaining two, one was adopted 203 years later as the Twenty-seventh Amendment and the other technically remains pending before the states.
Originally, the Bill of Rights implicitly legally protected only white men,[3] excluding American Indians, people considered to be "black"[3] (now described as African Americans), and women.[4][5][6] These exclusions were not explicit in the Bill of Rights' text, but were well understood and applied.[3]
The Bill of Rights plays a key role in American law and government, and remains a vital symbol of the freedoms and culture of the nation. One of the first fourteen copies of the Bill of Rights is on public display at the National Archives in Washington, D.C.

Violent Video Games, Drugs, Mental Sickness
The Obama Administration Does nothing about the drug trafficking in America. The US Borders are unsafe and Mexico is a ticking time bomb. The Obama Administration does nothing to curb illegal immigration and the people who promote drugs and the drug cartels. It is a known fact that a fair mount of mental health/sickness issues are related to or contributed from drug use and there is a parallel between violent video game buyers / players and drug users. These violent video games should go through the same purchase process as gun buyers. Fill out a form and submit for approval before the purchase can be made, start tracking these buyers and profile them - keep tabs on these people and study them against employment records, credit ratings, police criminal records, school records, and gun purchase records. Add a 30% TAX on all violent video games rated 18+ and rated R and a 50% tax on all games with no rating! How about a 20% sales tax on all violent movie’s shown at movie theaters or DVD sold in the retail chains?
Start attacking the problem and not the guns and sensible law abiding gun owners. Have you ever figured out yet that only the criminals, drug users, gang bangers and thugs are always in every gun related violent news? If this does not make sense to you then you are part of the problem that has got out of control in America and the parent that will not stand firm and band the violent games from your house!
